It focuses on the strategic policies, structure, conduct, performance, and management of the newspaper, magazine, radio, television, cable, film, Internet, and other mass media industries. As the world embraces the new century, China’s mass media industry is at critical and historical juncture of structural and functional transformation. In the changing context of globalization, issues like how to redefine the public nature of China’s non-profit mass media industry, how to enhance the competitiveness of China’s profit-driven mass media industry in the marketization process, and how to promote and implement institutional and constitutional changes in the mass media industry of China have become the major concerns of China’s mass media reform. Echoing these concerns, CMPS aims to unite scholars and policy makers and practitioners in the government and mass media industry and provide them a discussion and research forum on the practices and theories of contemporary media policies worldwide. It also aims to serve as a think-tank for the policy makers of the Chinese government, providing valuable intellectual resources and constructive suggestions for the mass media reform and transformation of China. CMPS publishes Contemporary Media Policy Studies (in book form) annually. CMPS’s email address is
